This blog is an assignment for EDM 510.
I am involved in the after-school program at my school. I teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Activities to the K-1st grade students. I need some activities that I can use with my students. The activities do not have to involve each of the content areas. They can only focus on science or only on math.
The activity can last one session-45 minutes- or it can continue over several sessions.
I found a link that gives information for several science activities and experiments. These target 1st grade students. There are numerous to choose from and I hope they help with your students!

I attached a link to a STEM website that was very helpful for me last year when I taught first. The activities are great and it provides you with lesson plans which is always a plus. :) Enjoy!

Tiffany, this website has tons of quick, cheap, and easy science experiments that can be done with young children. Some even have questions to ask the students to make them meaningful and videos for furthering the knowledge. Hope this is helpful! http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/article/40-cool-science-experiments-web

This is an excellent use of a weblog to encourage collaboration with classroom teachers and the sharing of information resources. STEM education in elementary school? I am impressed. Another resource you might want to consider is the Digital Library for Earth System Education (www.dlese.org) This resource has lesson plans and related materials searchable by both natural science discipline and grade level.
